Sunday in Gastown

Photos from a sunny Sunday afternoon in Gastown.

Uplifted

Over the lunch hour yesterday I decided to get out of the office for a walk. The morning, like many in Vancouver, started with pouring rain and a grey haze, both over the city and in the spirits of those waking to the dreariness. By noon the sun was shining, and although a crisp wind was coming in over the water, it was gorgeous…

Women of Note

I am inspired almost daily by the success, assertiveness, kindness, strength and generosity of ¬†women, both in my life and all over the world. Especially by those who support, foster, and inspire¬†personal and professional growth in others. Today, being International Women’s Day, it seems appropriate to profile two ladies leading the way towards gender equality in senior executive positions at global organizations. I was…

Fresh St. Farms

Fresh St. Farms

There are many wonderful restaurants, pubs and shops waiting to be discovered in Surrey. As someone who moved here a few years ago, I have been pleased to find tons of delicious, unique eats in this vast and growing city. Following other Twitter users and blogs has been a big part of that discovery process and I’m grateful every time someone profiles good local…

Boutique is Best

Hilton, Delta, Fairmont, Marriott… although these brands have many lovely properties all over the world, I have never been one to choose to stay with a large hotel chain. Had been meaning to check out Grecos Specialty Foods in Newton for awhile, and yesterday we were very pleased to find cheeses, meats, olives, pastas, dips, and gourmet choices galore in this little shop. I left a very happy girl. YUM.

How a Day Makes a Difference

It’s so easy to get caught up in the every day. Waking up before the sun rises (after a few hits of the snooze button), showering, dressing, commuting. Then a day at the office, commute home, cook, eat, sleep. Repeat. Your own well being gets pushed aside. Priorities somehow get lost after months on end of a similar schedule. That’s why it’s so special…

1) Bombay Brow Bar I experienced Bombay Brow Bar for the first time this past week, and am hooked! Slightly more expensive than a drop-in threading salon, it’s worth it. Excellent service, perfectly balanced brows, modern Indian ambiance. I chose rose water oil for the relaxing forehead massage, but imagine the aloe-scented option is lovely too. It’s amazing what great eyebrows can do to…
