About New Years

In about 12 hours, 2012 will come to a close. It’s been a wonderful year. We made tons of progress on our home, I started a new job that feels like a perfect fit and furthers my career in the right direction and we’ve watched friends and family grow and experience changes of their own. I feel so truly blessed to have so much love in my life.

To me,  that’s what New Years Eve is all about – looking back on the past 12 months and the lessons learned, and feeling thankful and blessed for the joys we experience. I feel, though, that we somehow put all this pressure on ourselves on the 31st of December. Every year it’s a scramble and a stress to figure out “what to do” on New Years and there’s a huge amount of pressure to make the night special, unbelievable, an awesome party – do you feel that too? I’ve heard it from others as well.

Really, New Years Eve is like every other eve. Yes, we should celebrate the end of the year and new beginnings with those we love, but why the big stress? I fall victim to it all the time. I think it’s about managing your own expectations.

Tonight, I am looking at it as a wonderful gathering of some beautiful people over a delicious meal. We’ll get dressed up, look our best, enjoy some champagne and each others company.

That, to me, sounds like a lovely way to spend any evening.

Wishing you all a wonderful New Years and happy, prosperous 2013.

xo,

Kate

PS: Have you seen this video? The song has been stuck in my head all morning – these two are adorable.
